Babalawo divination wooden plate

This is an instrument used in the Yoruba ritual of divination. Divination tray of the Yoruba ethnic group, from Nigeria.

As part of his consultations, the diviner throws cowries on the board, allowing him to read the future of the person consulted.

The piece, decorated with very fine details, is carved in dense wood.
